Abstract: Two field experiments were conducted during 2012 and 2013 rice seasons at Rice Research and Training Center Experimental Farm, Sakha, Kafr El-Sheikh governorate, Egypt. This study aimed to minimize the input of NPK mineral fertilizers by adding both compost and bacteria as organic and bio-fertilizers, respectively, to Giza 179 rice cultivar. The main results in both seasons revealed that either 75% NPK of recommended + Compost + PGPR (T4) or 50% NPK + Compost + PGPR (T7) significantly produced the maximum values of chlorophyll content, flag leaf area, dry matter accumulation, number of panicles/m2, 1000-grain weight and grain yield. In addition, the tallest plants, heaviest panicles, and longest vegetative period, as well as, the highest protein content and the maximum NPK uptake by rice grain were belonged with (T4). Results, also indicated that 100% mineral NPK (T1) recorded the maximum tillers number/m2 and head rice percentage. Both (T1) and (T4) gave the maximum straw yield. On the other side, control treatment (without any of tested fertilizers) produced the lowest values of the above mentioned traits. The obtained results, also, demonstrated that, either panicle length or harvest index were not significantly affected by all fertilization treatments under study during the both seasons. It means that 50% NPK + Compost + PGPR was the best combination treatment for enhancing vegetative growth, improving grain yield and its components, as well as, improving grain quality, especially milling and head rice percentages of Giza 179 rice cultivar. It means that Adding 75% NPK + 9 t/ha. compost + 750g/ha. PGPR or 50% NPK plus the same amount of both compost or PGPR were the best combination for enhancing and improving growth, grain yield and its components ,as well as, the tested grain quality and nutrient uptake of Giza 179 rice cultivar.
