Bean productivity in saline soils
INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL of ACADEMIC RESEARCH Vol. 4. No. 6. November, 2012
Abstract: A field experiment was conducted in a private farm with saline sandy clay soil located in Sahel El-Tina, at North Sinia Governorate, during the two successive winter seasons of 2010/2011 and 2011/2012. The current work aimed at evaluating the effect of swing methods (furrow and raised bed), combined N +K fertilizering rates (30, 45
and 60 kg N fed-1 + 25, 50 and 75 kg K2O fed-1) and hill spacing (15, 25 and 30 cm) on some soil properties and faba bean (Nubaria 1) productivity under newly reclaimed saline soil conditions. The results obtained revealed that seed yield increased with increasing rate of N + K and hill spacing at 25 cm in both swing methods. Increasing N+K
fertilization rates were significant by increasing N, P and K concentration in faba bean seeds under furrow than under raised bed methods. Micronutrient (Fe, Mn and Zn mgkg-1) contents in seeds increased with increasing N and K application rates and decreased of with increasing hill spacing. Concerning, the soil pH and EC decreased
value were increase rate of N + K fertilizers and low hill spacing of furrow planting than raised bed method. Concerning, that the soil pH and EC decreased value were increase rate of N + K fertilizers and low hill spacing of furrow planting than raised bed method. Concerning, that the soil pH and EC decreased value were increase rate
of N + K2O fertilizers and low hill spacing of furrow planting than raised bed method. Also, the application of combined N + K2O rates and hill spacing caused an appreciated increase in the availability N, P and K in the soil as well as their contents were maximized with increasing the applied rates. On the other hand, the micronutrients (Fe,
Mn and Zn) content in soil tested was increased with increasing rates of mineral N combined K2O fertilizers application and low hill spacing. From the obtained results it could be concluded that the best faba bean production package under saline
soil conditions includes the use of 15 or 25 cm hill spacing, a combination of 60 kg N and 75 kg K2O fed-1 and cultivation using furrow method.
