Amal, A. Zaky, Mounira, M. Bishara and Clair, N. Fares( 2012). Effect Of Biofertilizers (Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi And Yeast) On Vegetative
Growth, Flowering And Bulbs Productivity Of Lilium.
J. Biol. Chem. Environ. Sci., 2012, Vol. 7(2):89-105
Abstract: A pot experiment was performed in the green house at the nursery of the Ornamental Plants Res. and Landscape Dep., Hort. Res. Inst., ARC., Giza, Egypt through two successive seasons (2010 and 2011) to investigate the response of Lilium asiaticum cv. Nello to inoculation with arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi and yeast either
solely or in a combined mixture as a biofertilizer in comparison to
mineral fertilization (NPK). The obtained results revealed that
fertilization treatments significantly stimulated most of the studied
characters compared to control. The inoculation of Lilium with either
AM fungi and /or yeast supported the highest values of vegetative
growth and both of length and number of roots. Dual inoculation with
AM fungi and yeast shortened the number of days required to
flowering and increased flowers number, bulbs characters, bulblets
formation as well as total chlorophyll in leaves and gave the highest
total carbohydrates % in leaves, flowers and bulbs. The same combination revealed that the flowers had a higher percentage of N and K but the bulbs had a higher percentage of P than other parts of
plants in both seasons. The addition of half dose of mineral fertilization (½ NPK) plus the inoculation with AM fungi and yeast were the best compared to full dose NPK solely in all parameters of
Lilium plant. In respect to microbial activity in the rhizosphere, it was
noticed that the dual inoculation with AM fungi plus yeast and/or half
dose NPK recorded an increase in total microbial count, spores number of AM fungi as well as the rate of root infection. Generally, EFFECT OF BIOFERTILIZERS (ARBUSCULAR MYCORRHIZAL mixed inoculation with AM fungi plus yeast significantly increased
the efficiency of mineral fertilizers utilization and these interactions
are important for sustainable agriculture systems.
