Abstract: Two field experiments were conducted at Ismailia Agricultural Research Station, Ismailia Governorate during two successive seasons of 2008 and 2009 to identify the response of peanut Giza 5 variety to sulphur fertilization and Rhizobium inoculation either singly or in combinations. sulphur fertilizer was added to the soil at a rate of 15, 30 and 45 kg S/ fed. before sowing. Peanut seeds were inoculated with appropriate amount of Rhizobia using a suitable amount of Arabic gum before cultivation. The obtained results showed the effective action of sulphur in ameliorating the deleterious effect of nutrient deficiency and gave high response to such plants grown under stress conditions. In this respect, the efficiency of 45 kg S/ fed. was more effective in increasing significantly yield and yield components, since the percentage of increases in seed yield reached to 11.21 and 12.13% for the first and second seasons, respectively as compared with the control treatment. Corresponding significant increases in macronutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium), micronutrients (iron, zinc, manganese and copper) concentrations and uptake in seeds, likewise crude protein percent, protein yield, oil percent and oil yield in seeds for two growing seasons. The obtained data also indicated that Rhizobium inoculation alleviated the adverse effect of nutrient deficiency and produced significant improvement in all studied parameters throughout the development stages of growth. Data illustrated that joint addition of sulphur at all rates with Rhizobium inoculation gave high significant increases in all prior studied parameters. The combined treatment of 45 kg S/ fed. + Rhizobia produced the highest increases not only yield and its components and nutrient concentrations and uptake but also on crude protein percent, protein yield, oil percent and oil yield in seeds of peanut
