Abstract: Salt affected soils are widely separated along the cost of Nile Delta, Egypt and most of arid and semi-arid climatic regions causing a deterioration impact on the most important fertile agricultural soils. The nature and properties of these soils are divers and need specific approaches for their reclamation and management to maintain their long term productivity. The current work was carried out in the private farm representing the salt affected soil at El-Hamoul area, Kafr El-Shiekh Governorate, Northern Nile Delta. The main goal of this work was to evaluate reclamation process by irrigating the ploughed soil followed by horizontal disposed (flushing) the standing water after one day (24 hr), and secondly flush after 7 days and subsequent gypsum application and vertical leaching (G+2F). The obtained results showed that the (G+2F) treatment significantly increased the average yield of both rice and wheat by 25 and 62%, respectively comparing with the conventional treatment. On the other hand, the (G+2F) treatment reduced the ECe and SAR values of the soil. Such favorable effect was reflected on the improving of soil physical properties (dispersible clay content, water stable aggregates and saturated hydraulic conductivity). Split application of gypsum between flushing (GF1⁄2 and GF2⁄3) gave similar results to GF2 in terms of soil improvement and crop production.
